Data protection

Our approach to GDPR

Last updated: 10 August 2026

Resicoms is a trading name of Places We Share. The Resicoms platform is designed to help villages and communities communicate clearly with residents and homeowners. This page explains our general approach to data protection under the UK General Data Protection Regulation and the Data Protection Act 2018.

Scope of this page

This page provides an overview of our data protection approach. Our privacy notice explains how we handle information collected through this sales website. Each resident platform will also have privacy information that reflects the organisation operating that village or community and the services it provides.

Data protection roles

For information submitted directly through this sales website, Places We Share determines why and how that information is used. For a resident platform, the relevant village, community or operating company will usually determine the purposes for which resident information is used. Places We Share may provide technology and processing services on its instructions. The precise responsibilities will be recorded in the relevant service agreement and privacy information.

Our principles

We aim to ensure that personal information is:

  • used lawfully, fairly and transparently;
  • collected for clear and specific purposes;
  • limited to what is necessary for those purposes;
  • kept accurate and corrected when required;
  • retained only for as long as it is needed;
  • protected using appropriate technical and organisational measures; and
  • managed with clear responsibility and accountability.

Lawful use of information

The lawful basis depends on the reason information is being used. This may include taking steps requested before entering into a contract, performing a contract, meeting a legal obligation, pursuing a legitimate business interest where individual rights are properly considered, or obtaining consent where consent is the appropriate basis. Optional website analytics are used only when the visitor allows them.

Information security

We use proportionate controls intended to protect personal information against unauthorised access, alteration, disclosure or loss. Access should be limited to authorised people who need the information for their role. Suppliers that process personal information for a service are expected to meet appropriate privacy and security requirements.

International transfers

If personal information is transferred outside the United Kingdom, the relevant organisation must ensure that an appropriate legal mechanism and safeguards are in place. Details of material transfers should be included in the privacy information for the relevant service.

Individual rights

Depending on the circumstances and the lawful basis, individuals may have rights to be informed, access their information, correct inaccurate information, request erasure, restrict processing, receive portable data, object to processing, and receive safeguards relating to solely automated decisions. Some rights are subject to legal conditions and exemptions.

Requests and concerns

For information submitted through this website, email hello@resicoms.com. For information held within a resident platform, contact the village, community or operating company identified in that service’s privacy information.

You can also find independent information about data protection rights on the Information Commissioner’s Office website.
